WEEK 8 - BAND MEETING / MODULE LAUNCH

This week we had the module launch for the collaborative project with the music students, we had to opportunity to see multiple bands and then out of those decide which we wanted to work with.

The band i chose to work with was called ON ALL FRONTS, these are the notes i chose after listening to them and asking questions from our first encounter.

Looking at the band in these photos i could tell that they were casual and easygoing people from the way they sat around and talked and i thought that the type of media package and design style I could create would all work because of similar styles they had together.

while speaking to the band in this session the goal was for myself to try and find out as much as I could, the band really wanted to focus on being able to show high energy at the 1st minute as they have 4 songs in which the final one should end in a band to do this id love to incorporate a focal piece in the center of a stage ideally. The set should be able to help portray a story or ranges of emotions, my goal would be to do this thematically. the band discussed the idea of pleasure to pain, one idea that comes to mind when thinking of this is the idea of gambling as it can turn from pleasure to pain in an instant. Michael discussed how he tends to control the direction of the band and helps guide them while on stage this could mean giving him a great deal of space might help him do so. for some reason the band joked about the shoe Croc's although it wouldn't be practical to include I think the idea of individuality is present here this could be done by defining each member with a location on stage. Michael said he would like the ability to crouch on stage this might be done by adding different heights and levels being stacked on top of each other or positioning. Overall this was a very good introductory session with the band as it allowed me to rally try and understand the mind of the band members and try to see what Michael think as it seemed to be that he was leading the general direction of the band. They seemed to have a basic idea of their own identity however, as music student have little experience with design, my goal will be to try and touch on the points that they themselves have stated and work from there with them to define what they would like in their design package.
