In this week Tim Bailey came up from the workshops and talked through the process of creating white card models, he showed us how to safely cut out and mount drawing to the card, using the spray mount, he covered the best kinds of spray mount and the best scalpels to use which were Swan and Morten scalpels. This session also covered some basic health and safety techniques for creating these kinds of models. He also gave a really helpful tool kit list that we can use to ensure we had the best equipment for our work. We were also given a brief intro on how to spray the card within a small spray booth as to keep fumes etc out of the air. Although these seem like small things they could prevent serious health problems and so I tried to pay really close attention to protect myself and others in future work.
Overall this was a really informative session that we could use as a foundation for making higher quality models in the future. There was no physical work that we created in this session as in our next one Tim would be coming in to talk us through making the model ourself.
