For our second week we have been instructed to create a presentation task to incite my curiosity of how to express myself effectively when compiling my work. We were instructed to make a cross platform research exercise and to find examples of things such as an artists Blog, Online portfolio and social media accounts.

To start with I look at an artist called Nick Cobb whos website was very unclear and difficult to see with messy use of colour and difficulty visibility overall with l of the plant texture in the background.

Here is a better image that he could have used with fewer colours that mix together and more visible areas that could house text.

Here is an example of a blog that I thought was really good at conveying their work, they use a simple layout with little text and one large image. that speaks volumes of the kind of work they will be uploading and their style itself.

On the actual blog posts there is no text with just the images of their work and nothing else, there is no specific order that the images appear to be posted in, colour is randomly placed initially it seems however I still feel that everything originates from the red dot so it may however be an intentionally order so I could consider something subtle but with that idea of a hidden order.

Finally, for my artist social media pages, I looked at artists Jason Freeney and Takashi Murakami there pages seem much more unorganized and informal the work they post can be in development or unfinished and I think that is because of the ease of social media giving the artist the ability be more interactive with their audience. Visually they are not very cohesive as they don't seem to follow a post order, and the clarity of the writing is minimal as it's less about the text and more about what is happening in whatever image is being posted.

When creating my portfolio I will ensure I take care to make sure mine does not have issues such as unreadable text due to choice of colour and background image. Based on my findings from this session I will have a more simplified, refined and clear portfolio that implores readability and clear presentation. Researching these artists has given me valuable insight on what to not do within my own work. And what things could put someone off reading through your material and giving you a chance.
