For my next session of learning, I wanted to dive deeper into some of the production skills and overall running of a set. Learning how to stick to a schedule and running a set although not directly related to design learning about being on a set running it and how the whole process works I think will be invaluable with my career as a creative in the film and tv industry.
Delegating work, and being responsible for a crew on set as everyone needs to be managed as in the end working on a film in any role is challenging. Working on a location be it at home, a set or out in public your crew represents you and your work, as word of mouth can contribute greatly in my career path and if people have a bad experience working with you it can impact future opportunity as this industry is influenced greatly by word of mouth. Ensuring that your paying attention to health and safety as the location and its threats are the responsibility of yourself and the rest of your crew.
It also covered how to handle a crew when things go wrong if you see issues take it into your hands. Discuss issues if you can, if people aren't getting along such as actors arguing remove them from the situation. This goes for if I was working in an art department and running it if the crew are arguing about something discuss it and remove them in necessary. And if so I should try to keep it as professional as possible as budgets are always a thing and problems cost money.
This was a really valuable video series to look at as it covers the professional aspect that I have minimal experience and so if and when I can get a chance to work on a real project I can use this as a basis for how to work.
