For my next Linkedin learning session, I wanted to learn more about being on a film set, the do's, don'ts and other behaviours of being on a film set. This series covered things such as continuity and how ensuring that everything is correct from shot to shot as takes may be shot in and out of order and so having something simple like an actor wearing a jacket in one shot then not in another breaks the immersive experience of the film.
It also covers the roles of people within the film from the director, gaffer, grips, production designer etc. How to treat your film crew also was covered very well, from feeding people right to giving them the appropriate breaks, keeping up the mood on set was clearly a very important part as if the actors/crew are unhappy the quality of their work goes down dramatically.
This course was really interesting as it gave an honest a frank breakdown of working on a short film, the roles of each person, and how to approach working professionally on a film set. This session has been incredibly eye-opening about what goes into creating a short film and a lot of the points they cover could be applied to many different aspects of work I would do in the future.

Additionally, there was a very good section about props and health and safety such as they used flaming torches for their short film and this created many safety risks such as falling flaming debris, keeping buckets of water on hand at all times to be able to extinguish anything on fire. It covers dressing the set and how the difference between a good set and a bad set can change the mood entirely. Covering relevant topics such as set dressing and props was a really nice touch as there an important thing in any film.
