For this week we were instructed to go into the Salford art museum, we looked at many different artworks we were tasked with sketching things from the A-Z gallery and the Victorian gallery. This gallery in its own way helps to tell the story of the peel park campus as this building has been on the campus and used as an art gallery since the 1850s. I chose a few different works to look at one was a large fish inside a glass cabinet I felt this would be interesting to sketch as it had so many different parts to it and seemed the most lifelike, alongside with this in the Victorian section, I found a series of glass sculptures that I found really interesting I thought an interesting way of sketching these abstract sculptures would be to do timed drawings, I used 10/15/30/60 second intervals on each sketch to see what kinds of details I could capture. I think this was a really interesting way of trying to capture the sculptures in a way that allowed me to see all the minor details that they had.

I attempted to draw some of the paintings such as one of a fishing boat with many people and smaller fish shapes but I found this really difficult as my drawing skills are not very good. The gallery had a wide array of different artworks ranging from large scale models of ships and smaller trams cars to things such as old pots and ceramics. These were interesting as they had very unique shapes and patterns that I hadn’t seen before or even thought of.

I used the sculptures and other things such as the small people made of pottery, my goal will be to transition these characters from the gallery I found and work them into my story of peel park.
