For the first intro session with Paul we were introduced to Sketch up, this was not something entirely new as i had used programs such as Space claim and Fusion 360 so i found the program similar in some or most aspects. To start the session Paul gave us a sheet with all the shortcuts and told us to use them as to learn the shortcuts earlier will improve our ability to actually use the software. Our first task was for us to create a series of rectangles and squares on different planes so to learn how to create objects comfortably using the shortcuts. Next we used the square tool, then the pull or extrusion tool to create square boxes, using group to keep each object separate to allow us the move them once a series of them had been made. Next we were asked to make a castle, we took a fairly simple image we sourced from google for a basic example of how to design the castle and then used the array of skills and tools we had been taught in the class to create this. I thought that this class was very useful as i had wanted to learn sketch up for quite a long time but had never known where to start so this was a really good class to introduce me into to world of using sketch up to design and create models.
